Server room cooling: what to consider
Server equipment produces heat continuously. Cooling it requires a different approach from office comfort cooling.
Continuous operation
A server room is cooled day and night, including in winter. Choose suitable equipment and allow for current and future heat load.
Avoiding downtime
Consider redundancy so a second unit takes over during a fault or maintenance, plus temperature monitoring with alerts. Agree response times for faults.
Maintenance
Periodic maintenance, clean filters and outdoor unit checks support reliability. Discuss equipment requirements with your IT supplier.
