A heat pump for a villa: where to start

A heat pump can heat a villa and often cool it too. Suitability depends on the home and its occupants.

The home

Insulation, the heat emitters such as underfloor heating or radiators, and heat demand determine the right type and capacity. Air-to-water, hybrid and air-to-air options each have their own conditions.

Integration

Outdoor unit location, noise, the indoor unit and any hot water cylinder need attention, especially with distinctive architecture.

Advice and grants

The ISDE grant is available for some heat pumps; RVO sets the conditions. Have the home assessed before choosing.
